License and Certification Qualifications: Valid Georgia Driver's License required.

Education Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience Qualifications: Three years experience in repair and maintenance of equipment required.

Skills Qualifications: Ability to communicate and interact with internal staff and end users; ability to diagnose and resolve problems with various equipment, including DC and AC motors, battery chargers, rotating mechanical and electrical equipment and circuit board computer controlled electronics; ability to work independently, reason logically, multi-task, prioritize, and escalate issues if needed; ability to work closely with schools and school district personnel to provide excellent customer service and support; and ability to properly document with detail related occurrences via the computerized Maintenance Management System (MAXIMO).

Primary Responsibilities: Responsible for providing equipment support to district facilities through repair, troubleshooting, and training in a timely and professional manner, while executing work orders in support of daily custodial operations, system-wide projects and equipment functions.

1. Provide excellent customer service through prompt response to and completion of custodial equipment maintenance requests.
a. Interact with head custodians and supervisory staff to determine the appropriate equipment maintenance needs.
b. Troubleshoot maintenance needs via telephone or by physical visit to facilities.
c. Prioritize requests to ensure requests are processed in an orderly fashion.
d. Provide timely solutions to maintenance requests through parts or equipment replacement or repair.
e. Document and track maintenance requests, solutions, and outcomes in the MAXIMO system.


2. Determine, order, and maintain a stock of inventory parts to ensure reliable customer service to internal customers.
a. Monitor inventory levels and submit purchase requests to replenish stock as needed.
b. Complete inventory and maintain used replacement parts.
c. Track inventory through the MAXIMO system.


3. Ensure work orders are completed within a timely manner.
a. Enter work order data into the MAXIMO system including estimated time, labor, and parts.
b. Update work order data as requests are performed.
c. Ensure all work orders are performed to completion.


4. Supervise and review work of private contractors.
a. Address issues and rework with the appropriate private contractor for resolution, including warranty repairs.
b. Maintain safe work procedures and ensure compliance with any additional guidelines and appropriate regulations.


5. Provide necessary technical and safety training for various equipment.
a. Create training demonstrations to instruct personnel on the appropriate ways to use and maintain equipment.
b. Provide training to appropriate district staff on new equipment procured through the department.
c. Provide training to appropriate new employees on current equipment.
d. Ensure personnel are trained to handle equipment safely and correctly.


6. Make recommendations for new equipment.
a. Research the latest equipment updates that would expedite and simplify daily functions.
b. Procure and test new equipment to determine possible service and reliability.
c. Report research findings to supervisor on tested equipment and make recommendations based on testing outcomes.


7. Support the effective on-going operation and continuous improvement of equipment support processes.
a. Provide regularly feedback on daily and routine equipment repair process and practices to identify those that work well and those that don't.
b. Provide recommendations for replicating effective processes in other aspects of the work and for improving processes that are not working well.


8. Perform other duties as assigned.
a. Follow new directives provided by supervisory staff.
b. Clarify the purpose of and need for new tasks to be performed.
c. Ask questions and clarify understanding of the new task to ensure a positive result.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time. Employee is also required to talk, hear, stand, and walk. The employee may be required to use hands to touch, handle, feel, and/or reach. Employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
