License and Certification Qualifications: Valid Georgia driver?s license required. Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI), Category 24 Georgia Pesticide Applicator License, and Level 1-A Erosion Control Certification required within 90 days.

Education Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.

Experience Qualifications: Six years managerial experience in commercial construction, landscape maintenance, and contract crews required.

Skills Qualifications: Strong managerial, organizational, and scheduling skills; knowledge and experience in commercial/institutional landscape, site development, construction, and maintenance; ability to issue and follow oral and written instructions; and ability to maintain positive working relationships with other employees and vendors.

Primary Responsibilities: Supervise grounds maintenance personnel, time and material contractors, and bid contractors in the completion of preventive and corrective maintenance of construction projects, survey school sites for safety of students, employees, and visitors, protect school property and functionality of landscape/hardscape and infrastructures, and meet with school administrators to address grounds concerns.

1. Assist the Director of Grounds Maintenance, Coordinator of Athletics & Grounds Maintenance, and Coordinator of Site Development with various grounds maintenance projects.

2. Schedule and manage grounds maintenance crews, mowing bid contractors, and safety inspections of playground equipment at assigned school locations.
a. Schedule work with the grounds crews and contractors to avoid conflicts with school activities.
b. Schedule and manage Head Groundskeepers and ground maintenance crews.

3. Survey and evaluate school sites and identify preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance work.

4. Assign and manage time and material contractors.

5. Manage installation of playground equipment, borders, and safety surfacing at assigned school
locations. Scheduling & prioritization of work shall be in coordination with overall schedule as managed by Site Development Coordinator.

6. Communicate with school administrators to address any needs at the local schools including the purchase of new play equipment to ensure compliance with board policies and safety standards.

7. Communicate with the Construction Department Coordinators to maintain appropriate workflow including the design and management of the installation of landscaping at new and renovated local schools.

8. Maintain records to evaluate efficiency and performance of various assignments.

9. Schedule and manage safety inspection inventory and safety inspection records of all playground equipment owned by the district at assigned school locations.

10. Schedule, purchase, and supervise the installation of replacement parts for playground equipment that meets or exceeds original manufacture equipment standards.

11. Manage herbicide/pesticide applications.

12. Manage inspections, repairs, and installations and bid documents of running tracks and tennis courts.

13. Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time. The employee is also required to talk, hear, stand, and walk. The employee may be required to use hands to finger, handle, feel, and/or reach. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Employee is required to operate a motor vehicle in performance of duties. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
