License and Certification Qualifications: Valid Georgia teaching certification required.

Education Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in ESOL or related field required. Master's degree in ESOL or related field preferred

Experience Qualifications: Three years of successful teaching experience required. Experience delivering professional learning opportunities and experience working with best practices in English Learners Program including intervention needs with instructional leadership experience preferred.

Skills Qualifications: Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks/projects concurrently; ability to create and deliver professional learning that supports the direction of the English Learners Program; strong communication skills, both in oral and written format; knowledge and application of research-based instructional strategies in ESOL and federal and state requirements for districts serving English Learner students; ability to work successfully with colleagues; ability to project and generate a positive attitude; and ability to effect change. Proficiency in a language other than English preferred.

Primary Responsibilities: Responsible for professional learning development and delivery, data collection and evaluation, technical assistance regarding federal requirements, and various tasks that support the development, revision, implementation, and improvement of a cohesive K-12 English Learners program for instruction and assessment of the district's English Learners' progress towards and attainment of proficiency in English for Academic Knowledge and Skills (AKS).

1. Provide professional learning in support of teaching and learning.
a. Develop and facilitate professional learning consistent with philosophy, goals, objectives, and identified needs of the district and ESOL Program K-12.
b. Facilitate professional learning by modeling and coaching with teachers, inclusive of the ESOL Instructional Framework.
c. Support and assist principals, assistant principals, department chairs, teachers, and other appropriate personnel in creating extensions and interventions to support English Learner students in accessing and mastering AKS standards.

2. Design, implement, evaluate, and continually improve professional learning experiences that build the capacity of ESOL and content teachers and school leaders to support academic achievement for English Learners.
a. Support principals, assistant principals, department chairs, teachers and other appropriate personnel in providing effective, job embedded professional learning opportunities to meet the needs of staff in their individual schools.
b. Provide leadership for professional learning courses and programs focused on continuous quality improvement.

3. Lead and facilitate development of curriculum designed to support English language acquisition and academic achievement for English Learners.
a. Identify, coordinate teacher review, and pilot supplementary English Learner instructional resources to support progress toward proficiency in English and K-12 instruction of the AKS.
b. Develop lesson plans, interventions, extensions, and assessments aligned to the ESOL AKS for the English Learners Program, K-12.
c. Provide leadership for implementation of resources as needed.

4. Communicate effectively with internal and external audiences concerning research and best practices related to English Learners.
a. Accurately convey district and program philosophy, goals, and objectives to various audiences.
b. Provide information to appropriate personnel regarding current research, knowledge, and trends in providing effective instruction to and improving the academic achievement of English Learners.

5. Provide coaching support to ESOL and content teachers in accordance with district and program priorities.
a. Model effective instruction in classrooms as appropriate.
b. Support ESOL and K-12 content teachers in becoming reflective practitioners who are able to engage English Learners in learning language and content.

6. Collaborate with other curriculum departments in support of a coherent vision for teaching and learning throughout the district.

7. Conduct multiple projects concurrently, both independently and as a member of a collaborative team.

8. Perform other Title III allowable duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time. The employee is also required to talk, hear, stand, and walk. The employee may be required to use hands to finger, handle, feel, and/or reach. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
