POSITION: Practical Nursing Instructor

LOCATION: Commodore Conyers College and Career Academy


JOB SUMMARY:

The Commodore Conyers College and Career Academy is seeking a dedicated Nursing Instructor to provide instruction in various areas of Healthcare Science to ensure that students gain appropriate knowledge of skills about the industry to be prepared for a career and post-secondary opportunities.


QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (required); Master’s Degree (preferred); Current Georgia RV License in good standing; Three (3) years of work experience as a nurse within the past seven (7) years; Minimum of two years’ clinical experience in the past five (5) years; Basic level of computer skills; One (1) year of classroom teaching experience in an educational environment, (preferred); Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; Ability to relate and motivate all students with respect to learning styles to make learning meaningful, effective, contextual, and involving positive interactions for the ongoing intellectual development of young minds; Ability to provide remediation appropriate with program standards to impact student learning, progress, and development with a wide range of achievement levels; Ability to use the latest technical technology in educational and career-related technology discipline including keyboarding and data entry.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs all aspects of instruction for high school and technical programs of study; delivers effective instruction; ensures adherence to high school and college requirements in classrooms; ensures that labs are following established procedures; correct assessment of educational needs and class progress of students; selects and obtains appropriate educational materials for courses; prepares and reports student status in the program; meets all program goals and schedules; serves as a mentor to students; develops adequate lesson plans; and maintains knowledge of computer technology. Develops course outlines, goals and objectives; prepares appropriate curricula; attends committee meetings relating to curriculum development, extracurricular activities and other sponsored activities or programs as required; and prepares instructional reports for submission to principal. Evaluates student’s progress in attaining goals and objectives; establishes testing procedures to measure student’s progress; and communicates student’s progress to appropriate personnel, while accurately keeping records of student’s information. Requests and maintains supplies and equipment; prepares required budget requests; performs and maintains classroom inventory; and follows equipment procedures. Maintains program certification requirements; prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports; prepares and submits student’s progress; analyzes collected data for improvement of student learning outcomes; and submits reports in a timely manner. Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by attending required staff development training, workshops, seminars and conferences. Develops and meets with staff and students and other educators to discuss students, instructional programs and other issues impacting the progress of students; and advises students on course selection and other pertinent matters in a professional and effective manner. Displays a high level of effort and commitment to both students and the work; operates effectively within the organization; demonstrates appropriate trustworthiness and responsible behavior; and leads the students in a professional manner. Maintains appropriate and effective classroom management. Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal.
REPORTS TO: Principal

SALARY RANGE: 10 months. Competitive salary and excellent benefits package in accordance with the DCSS Compensation Guide.
