The District School Improvement Specialist works with district and school leaders to build capacity and sustainability for the school improvement process at the district and school levels. The School Improvement Specialist supports school and district leadership with data analysis and the implementation of the School Improvement Plan.
QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s Degree in Educational Administration/Leadership, or related field; Georgia PSC Certification; Minimum seven years of successful experience in education, with experience in positions of leadership at the school and/or district level; Proven ability to work with and serve as a liaison among various departments; successful experience in guiding the school improvement efforts of schools preferred; Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate. SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to effectively create and facilitate data projects; Proficient use and integration of technology to aggregate and disaggregate data; Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Works with school and district leadership to aggregate and disaggregate data to inform decision making; Facilitates data training to assist school personnel with identifying areas of growth and determining barriers that impede progress and collaborate with school teams to mitigate barriers; Provides data needed by school leaders and district support personnel to inform decision making and improve student achievement; Builds capacity among current and rising leaders in the area of analytics and school improvement; Provides leadership and support for the school improvement initiatives in Dougherty County; Works with the district and schools to set priorities and establishes a plan of support for achieving goals; Presents data presentations at the building and district level; Provides job-embedded professional learning and support for school personnel and district support personnel who are involves in school improvement processes; Ensures that the school improvement processes are supportive of and in alignment with district initiatives; Assists in the development of initiatives to address systemic deficits and meet district and school goals; Provides guidance to schools with the development and monitoring of School Improvement Plans; Designs and facilitates school-based and district-wide professional learning that impacts teacher practice and informs how data is utilized to improve student achievement; The District School Improvement Specialist will facilitate professional learning for school-based School Improvement Specialist to disaggregate data and coordinate data analysis efforts that align with district initiatives; Collaborates with other team members in support and implementation of District Strategic Plan; Provides technical assistance to school teams as they implement, monitor and document school improvement processes; Participates in state, district, and other professional learning opportunities to strengthen skill sets needed to assist district departments and schools; Develops and maintains positive, professional working relationships with all stakeholders; Performs other such duties needed or assigned by supervisor.

SALARY RANGE: 220-day contract with salary to be established by the DCSS.
