The Route Coordinator will promote the overall efficiency of the Transportation Department and enhance routing possibilities of the Dougherty County School System.
QUALIFICATIONS: Associate of Arts degree in Business or technical diploma in business or related field; Experience with Microsoft Excel, Access and Word; Five (5) years of experience in transportation operations; Five (5) years of experience with bus routing; Demonstrates leadership among drivers; Must possess a commercial driverâ€™s license; Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate. SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to apply critical thinking skills and recommendations in rendering solutions to various issues; Positive job attitude and the ability to work with others; Must have excellent organizational skills; Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists the Director in carrying out the functions and responsibilities of the Transportation Department; Maintains computerized routing system for bus stops, bus runs and bus routes; Prepares and maintains bus routes; Prepares and maintains school boundaries; Prepares boundary maps and related reports for Administration and School Board use; Monitors and maintains local student information; Coordinates corrections in student information with Deputy Superintendent and school records clerks; Communicates with parents, staff and administrators regarding student needs, transportation and bus routes; Communicates with city planning department to assure accurate input of new subdivisions, addresses and district map updates; Serves as a department resources regarding transportation services and respond to inquiries and provide information as needed; Maintain current knowledge of rules/regulations to assure the safety of bus stops and routes; Operates a two-way radio to communicate instructions to bus drivers for routine and emergency problems; Assist in preparing reports for the State Department; Performs other duties consistent with the goals and objectives for the department.
REPORTS TO: Director of Transportation
SALARY RANGE: Twelve-month contract with salary to be established by the DCSS.
