License and Certification Qualifications: Must hold or be eligible for a valid Georgia Educator's Certificate in Educational Leadership and/or Support Personnel License issued by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission. Georgia certification at the S-5 level in school counseling preferred.

Education Qualifications: Master's degree in related field required. Specialist or doctorate degree in related field preferred.

Experience Qualifications: Five years of school counseling experience in a K-12 public school with leadership responsibilities in developing and implementing advisement programs directly supporting student academic achievement required. Experience developing and supporting school counseling programming in the areas of academic, life skills, and career advisement preferred.

Skills Qualifications: Professional knowledge of counseling theory and techniques; ability to lead school counselors in analysis of student achievement data, identification of student academic problems, and identification of appropriate interventions; knowledge of the district's Academic Knowledge and Skills (AKS) and counseling competencies; ability to conceptualize and implement the supervisory tasks of program development and design, organizational management, consultation, and advisement for academic preparation and achievement, including social and emotional support structures; ability to communicate both verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner; ability to work successfully with colleagues; and demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.

Primary Responsibilities: Develop and implement appropriate programs and procedures for local academy schools in academic, post-secondary, and career counseling for continuous school improvement as measured by data analysis of student achievement.

1. Develop broad career concentrations and courses within each academy that leads to job shadowing, work-based learning opportunities, and pathway completion.

2. Coordinate a transition program from middle school to high school and from high school to post-secondary education and careers.

3. Develop a communication plan between the parents, students, and teachers within the academy model.

4. Develop comprehensive counseling programs and interventions critical to the academic, career, and personal/social development of all students.

5. Collaborate with academy leads to develop a written, annual plan which is data driven and includes measurable goals which are appropriately scoped and sequenced based on the needs of the local school and students.
a. Collaborate with local schools to identify best practices for at-risk students.
b. Monitor the data of pathway completion at academy model schools.
c. Support district and school improvement goals for student growth and achievement, and college and career readiness.

6. Support the district strategic plan, including initiatives and programs to address the needs of academy model schools.
a. Plan and conduct staff development programs and activities aligned with and for academy model schools for the continuous improvement of the school.

7. Demonstrate program accountability using data to document the results of strategies and interventions that are used to improve student academic performance.

8. Utilize the skills of leadership, advocacy, and collaboration to create systemic change to improve the academic success of all students.

9. Encourage school counselors to participate in school leadership teams.

10 Perform other duties as assigned.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time. The employee is also required to talk, hear, stand, and walk. The employee may be required to use hands to finger, handle, feel, and/or reach. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
