POSITION: GLRS Program Specialist

LOCATION: Southwest Georgia Learning Resources System (SWGLRS)


JOB SUMMARY:

The GLRS Program Specialist will collaborate with local school districts, regional, and state agencies to provide professional learning and coaching to teachers, administrators, and other appropriate staff to assist them in implementing effective instructional strategies for students with disabilities.

QUALIFICATIONS: Georgia professional renewable certification at a minimum of the T-4 level in the field of education, special education, or educational leadership; Minimum of ten (10) years of experience teaching students with special needs; Experience in developing, coordinating, and conducting job-embedded professional learning; Advanced technology skills to support databases, social media, software applications, personal learning devices, etc.; In-depth knowledge of IDEA law and regulations; Valid driver’s license and dependable transportation; Flexible work hours, including evening, overnight, and minimal Saturday events; Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and the Board may find appropriate. SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills; Ability to determine informational needs, to collect and analyze information; Ability to integrate a variety of technology into face-to-face and virtual professional learning.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Researches, develops, and facilitates job-embedded professional learning, technical assistance, and coaching around the SWGLRS Scope of Work that aligns with the district’s continuous improvement needs; Develops and implements progress monitoring to assess the impact/effectiveness of the training and support provided; Works directly with targeted schools to create and implement action plans that address how to improve outcomes for students with disabilities; Develops and delivers professional learning, technical assistance, and coaching in both virtual and face-to-face formats; Establishes an appropriate physical and virtual learning environment that promotes active engagement and high-quality outputs; Utilizes a variety of technological applications to develop and support ongoing improvement initiatives; Collects and utilizes feedback from provided professional learning, technical assistance, and coaching to ensure participant needs are met; Prepares publications and asynchronous professional learning that supports the needs of district personnel and parents of students with disabilities; Maintains accessibility and fosters ongoing communication between all stakeholders regarding SWGLRS initiatives; Participates in ongoing professional growth activities based on identified areas for improvement and incorporates learning into professional practice; Carries out duties in accordance with Federal and State laws, Code of Ethics, and established state and local Board of Control policies, regulations, and practices; Represents SWGLRS at meetings and conferences as assigned; Maintains records necessary for monthly, quarterly, and annual reports completion; Establishes positive collaborative relationships with district and agency staff; Performs other duties as determined by the Supervisor


REPORTS TO: Director of SWGLRS

SALARY RANGE: Competitive salary and excellent benefits package in accordance with the DCSS Compensation Guide.
