POSITION: Logistics Technician

JOB SUMMARY:

The Logistics Technician will provide courteous, quality, and efficient service to the schools of Dougherty County, ensuring every student has access to essential supplies by unloading, assembling, and placing items as required, and safely transporting teaching materials, furniture, supplies, equipment, and food to and from schools and other locations.

QUALIFICATIONS: High School Graduate; Possess the physical ability to perform required duties; Be able to follow and comprehend written and oral instructions; Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate. SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Excellent customer service skills; Excellent communication and organization skills; Ability to comprehend and follow written instructions; Ability to lift up to 50lbs; Ability to operate warehouse equipment and vehicles. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist with transporting teaching materials, furniture, supplies, equipment, and food to and from schools and other locations including loading, unloading, assembly, and placement of items as required; Properly use appropriate material handling equipment and techniques to load and unload materials in a safe, efficient, and effective manner; Processes and fills requests for warehouse stock and delivery as required; Learn and comply with applicable and legal requirements, such as the use of wheel chocks, dock plates, and seat belts; Assemble materials and properly place them according to customer needs and established DCSS standards; Resolve problems from unexpected field conditions in accordance with established DCSS standards, and communicate problems to the supervisor for resolution, when required; Assists in warehouse inventory, receiving stock and surplus sales; Receive, store, and retrieve teaching materials, furniture, supplies, equipment, and food to be transported to or from schools and other locations, filling work order requests, assembling, packing, and palletizing items as necessary; Store items in assigned locations; Pick correct items from storage in the proper quantities to fill customer orders as indicated on work order requests, then pack, palletize, and stack; Assure proper stacking of all merchandise to ensure that damages are limited and product remains in good condition; Transport equipment during renovations, additions, and the building of new schools. Responsible for organizing and maintaining the warehouse; Train and supervise part-time/miscellaneous and temporary agency personnel as needed; Advise supervisor of persistent difficulties achieving the desired results in an effort to resolve any issues; Perform other duties as assigned. REPORTS TO: Warehouse Coordinator

SALARY RANGE: 240-Day annual contract. Competitive salary and excellent benefits package, in accordance with the DCSS Compensation Guide.
