License and Certification Qualifications: Valid Georgia driver's license required.

Education Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required. College training and/or academic preparation through non-English language preferred.

Experience Qualifications: Experience in human services field, preferably with students and families and in a bilingual environment, work experience dealing with the public, experiences dealing with families and children preferred. Bilingual preferred.

Skills Qualifications: Strong interpersonal and communication skills: ability to communicate with others in an effective and tactful manner; ability to communicate courteously with school system employees, parents, and the public; excellent skills in organization and time management; ability to manage multiple priorities; ability to work as an effective team member; ability to represent Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) in a positive and professional manner.

Primary Responsibilities: Provide outreach and support for parents of children ages birth through five to assist them in helping their children improve their school readiness skills become active participants in the education of their children.

1. Assist with Building Parent Capacity.
a. Communicate with parents in multiple formats that reflect the needs of the early learning community.
b. Collaborate with and support Gwinnett Building Babies’ Brains.

2. Outreach to the Community.
a. Conduct community outreach as it relates to early learning and school readiness.
b. Serve as the liaison between the school district and community for early learning and school readiness.

3. Communicate to various internal and external audiences concerning best practices and information regarding kindergarten readiness and kindergarten.
a. Share information to appropriate personnel regarding current research, knowledge, and trends regarding kindergarten readiness and kindergarten.
b. Partner and collaborate with others to support kindergarten and early learning.

4. Engage in continuous learning opportunities.
a. Participate in regularly scheduled meetings and professional learning offered by Early Learning and School Readiness.
b. Attend professional learning offered by Gwinnett Building Babies’ Brains.

5. Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time. Employee is also required to talk, hear, stand, and walk. The employee may be required to use hands to finger, handle, feel, and/or reach. Employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
