License and Certification Qualifications: Must hold or be eligible for a valid Georgia Educator's Certificate in Educational Leadership and/or Support Personnel License issued by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission.

Education Qualifications: Master's degree in related field required. Specialist's or doctoral degree in related field preferred.

Experience Qualifications: Five years of successful teaching experience and five years of athletic experience or coaching in more than one sport required. Previous supervisory experience preferred.

Skills Qualifications: Ability to plan all extracurricular activities K-12; strong leadership skills; extensive knowledge of rules and regulations governing sports programs as well as Georgia High School Association rules and by-laws; knowledge of state and local board policies; high degree of skill in organization and problem-solving; exceptional ability to communicate and work with others in an effective manner; ability to communicate clearly, both written and verbal; and ability to project and generate positive attitudes.

Primary Responsibilities: Direct the activities and processes associated with the development, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive athletics program for the district.

1. Provide leadership and support to all extracurricular programs for the district.
a. Provide supervision and support for all athletic and intramural programs at the local high school and middle school level.

2. Develop policies and procedures to organize intramural and interscholastic athletic programs.
a. Ensure local schools are aware of state and local board policies, state standards, and Georgia High School Association (GHSA) policies that pertain to extracurricular activities.

3. Approve and monitor individual school athletic budgets. Review and approve expenditures and travel.

4. Inspect, review, and supervise the use of athletic facilities and the process for maintenance, repair, and service of county owned equipment.

5. Review the Athletic and Coaches Handbook annually.

6. Attend functions and activities including athletic contests, school board meetings, and GHSA meetings.
a. Serve as liaison representative with Gwinnett County Parks and Recreation.

7. Coordinate professional learning opportunities for coaches.

8. Ensure world-class customer service is provided by the Athletics Office.

9. Direct the continuous improvement efforts for all processes.

10. Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time. The employee is also required to talk, hear, stand, and walk. The employee may be required to use hands to finger, handle, feel, and/or reach. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
