License and Certification Qualifications: Valid Georgia Driver's License and Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required. Pesticide license and Level 1A Erosion Certification required within 90 days.

Education Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience Qualifications: Four years experience in supervising grounds maintenance/landscape crews in a large commercial or municipal operations required. Experience with grading equipment and trucks used in landscaping, grounds maintenance, and/or farming required. Experience with athletic field construction, irrigation installation and maintenance, irrigation pumps, computer irrigation controllers, and laser grading of large tracts preferred.

Skills Qualifications: Ability to follow oral and written instructions quickly and accurately; ability to manage, direct, and lead work crews; and ability to operate heavy duty trucks and landscaping equipment, including but not limited to, heavy duty commercial tractors, skid loaders, backhoes, front-end loaders and large trackhoes.

Primary Responsibilities: Assist the Coordinator of Grounds in the supervision of grounds maintenance crews in the successful completion of daily tasks/assignments and the supervision of time and material (contractor) crews performing grounds maintenance, repairs, and improvements.

1. Use large grading and construction equipment to perform daily duties.

2. Use work site safety precautions when excavating around local schools with materials transported and used on local school sites.

3. Supervise contractors through direct supervision of daily activities, such as school landscape projects, athletic field maintenance, irrigation repair and installation, storm water pipe, detention pond work, athletic field construction, and landscape projects.

4. Use laser grading equipment for grading athletic fields.

5. Use GPS surveying equipment for data collection and staking of site improvements.

6.. Maintain and account for all tools, parts, and equipment issued according to departmental guidelines.

7. Be on-call 24 hours a day in case immediate assistance is needed

8.. Oversee the maintenance of all high school athletic fields.

9. Perform other duties as assigned

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Employee is also required to talk, hear, stand, and walk. The employee may be required to use hands to finger, handle, feel, and/or reach. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee is required to operate a motor vehicle in performance of duties. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
