License and Certification Qualifications: Must hold or be eligible for a valid Georgia Educator's Certificate in Educational Leadership and/or Support Personnel License issued by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission.

Education Qualifications: Master's degree in related field required. Specialist or doctorate degree in related field preferred.

Experience Qualifications: Five years experience in K-12 public schools wtih leadership responsibilities in developing and successfulily implementing schoolwide initiatives/programs required. Administrative or supervisory experience preferred.

Skills Qualifications: Ability to collaborate and work effectively with individuals and groups; strong leadership skills; ability to conceptualize and articulate the impact social and emotional learning has on overall student academic success, student well-being, and school climate. Ability to envision, develop, and execute actions plans aligned with the district priorities regarding social and emotional learning. Strong understanding of social and emotional learning frameworks and models. Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly, both written and verbal; ability to establish clear office goals and objectives; ability to analyze existing processes and identify areas for improvement; ability to project and generate a positive attitude and consensus around district and office goals; and ability to effect positive change.

Primary Responsibilities: Direct the planning, organization, delivery, and evaluation of social and emotional learning services, resources, and programs to local schools and students for the Office of Social and Emotional Learning.

1. Direct the planning functions for the Office of Social and Emotional Learning.
a. Identify and define short and long-range goals for the Office of Social and Emotional Learning.
b. Prepare and manage the budget for the office.
c. Develop an implementation plan of research based strategies and practices.
d. Promote the integration and alignment of social and emotional learning throughout the school district.

2. Coordinate activities within the office and provide staff development opportunities for staff.
a. Provide learning opportunities for district leaders, school leaders, teachers, and support staff.
b. Ensure that learning opportunities for all staff are comprehensive and current.regarding SEL best practices.
c. Compile monthly and annual summaries for social and emotional learning service activities.
d. Identify community resources to meet SEL program and office needs.
e. Develop policies and operational procedures that meet student needs and requirements of state and local guidelines, as pertaining to the responsibilities of the social and well-being of students.

3. Review school data from multiple sources to identify, inform, and guide social and emotional learning programming, practices, and priorities.
a. Serve as a resource for school staff and community agencies related to social and emotional learning..
b. Serve as a resource to students, families, and appropriate school staff to monitor student progress.
c. Serve as a liaison for schools and community agencies for regular identification of students in need of social and emotional services within the school district.

4. Provide leadership to local schools and administrators concerning laws, policies, and ethics relating to social and emotional learning issues within the school setting.
a. Maintain current knowledge of changes to laws and policies impacting social and emotional learning.

5. Ensure world-class customer service is provided by the Office of Social and Emotional Learning.
a. Assist staff in resolving complex issues.

6. Direct the continuous improvement efforts for all office processes.

7. Serve as a resource for Social Emotional Learning for the district.

8. Perform other duties as assigned.


Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time. The employee is also required to talk, hear, stand and walk. The employee may be required to use hands to finger, handle, feel, and/or reach. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
